Aparajita completed her M.F.A in Photography at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco; under the guidance of the director Lon Clark she dove head on into Documentary Photography and Photojournalism.
She says “As unique as we are individually we all face universal questions like What is Life? Death? Reality? My interest in Documentary Photography stems from my interest in trying to understand some of these universal questions visually through the medium of photography. Being a photographer enables me to understand and enter situations as an observer and this pursuit of truth fuels my passion for photography.”
She worked on an independent documentary project that explored universal issues like aging and the implications it has on the society as a whole. She spent 2 years documenting the seniors and their lives at the home for the aged in Ashby, California.
In December 2004 she documented the aftermath of the Tsunami that hit Chennai. She also did photojournalistic work in San Francisco with Edelman Inc. and her work was published in the San Jose Metro News.
